Hey all, Mama has been talking to some people about plans for next year for Charlie when she goes back to work. She spoke with a woman about this day care sorta place called Elder Mount. Its day care for adults pretty much. It would be a place for Charlie to go while she goes to work. They have a lot of activities for him and it would be so much better than sitting in front of the t.v. (not watching it) all day. They have field trips and everything. It sounds like a great place. Mama and Charlie will be checking it out on Friday to see what they think.

We also are looking at a different neurologist to see if he can explain anything about what it happening with Charlie. It seems as though it is more than just Alzheimer's that he is going through. There are symptoms that we haven't ever read about and when Mama talked to the director of the Alzheimer's Association she said she had never seen them before in Alzheimer's patients either. We don't think that anything can really be done about it but it would be nice to understand more about what it happening. He is no longer on any kind of Alzheimer's medication before frankly it wasn't doing a darn thing.

All for now,
Kels

  1. Please be extremely cautious about removing Charlie from the Alzheimers medications. Even though it may appear as though there are no improvements with him taking it (which is quite common), it will however, slow down its progress to a certain degree. In other words it could cause him to go down hill faster without the meds, and once he starts going down again or further, it is often almost impossible to get him back to even where he is now. The Alzheimers doctor should have told you folks that, but yes, totally think a nurologist is a good direction to head in as well...Roger
